A few years back, I happened upon a song called “Your Word” on one of the International House of Prayer CD’s called “Constant”. Song here:
The song is by a guy named Jon Thurlow, and at the time, I couldn’t find any other songs from him. I recently came across the song again, looked him up on iTunes and found this album: Jon Thurlow \”Strong Love\”
As I get back into blogging here, I plan to post a lot under the topic of “fresh worship tunes”. I am loving this new album from Jon! It’s got soul to it and is way different than songs I gravitate to when I lead. I also like the spontaneity and honest, heartlfelt-in the moment responses to God’s presence that come out of IHOP. The songs are raw and not based on typical musical and lyrical formulas. “Strong Love” is a studio album but you can tell the songs were borne out of worship times. And, you may or not be into the Billy Joel/Andy Davis/Gabe Dixon Band/Keith Green vibe but i am all about it!
So, look him up, buy the album and let it lead you to a new place of worship.
